Things in the Afghan War seem like such a mess, that it’s hard to make sense of the who and the what of the region. Your post provides a nice outline of the key players (not) involved. As for the video, usually armies are known to share an uneasy relationship with locals, that the Gurkhas integrate in as far as is possible, is a good example of using contextual intervention to solve regional problems.
